After the group meets and everyone is accounted for, you’ll fly up to Lukla, a small airstrip at the Everest base camp. The next few days are spent trekking through the heartland of the Sherpa people. Pass by Buddhist monasteries, see panoramic views of the Khumbu mountains and watch Mount Everest grow larger and larger everyday as you walk closer and closer to it. You will explore the Everest region, and although the trek is called the Everest Base Camp Trek, your goal is the summit of Karla Pattar, which is even higher than Everest Base Camp; offering awe inspiring views of Nuptse, Everest, and the Khumbu Glacier. Trek through The Sagarmatha National Park rich with flora and fauna, and try to snap a picture and prove the existence of the infamous and mysterious Yeti. Everest base camp Itinerary Day 1: A morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,800m.) After landing you will go on an easy walk through several villages ending in the village of Phakding (2,800m.) This will take about 5-hours and you’ll even have time to relax. Day 2: Pass through several villages, beautiful pine forests and reach Jorsalee (2,800m.) Then you’ll follow a river for about 1-hour and climb slowly up steep trails reaching Namche. The historical Namche Bazaar has a market every Saturday and traders come from villages a week’s walk away to go there. An acclimatization day allows you to go on an excursion to Thame. Intricately carved mani stones mark the path to this large valley with a picturesque gompa on the hillside overlooking the valley. On this walking trail, you will catch your first glimpses of Everest and the surrounding mountains. Walking time is about 6-hours. Day 3: You will spend most of the day at the Namche Bazzar, then take a steep trail that leads up to Shyangboche, and includes about a 1-hour climb. From the top of Shyangboch you can view Mt. Everest, and the Ama Dablam, Themserku, Nuptse, and Lotse mountains. You will walk about 3-hours this day. Day 4: From Namche Bazaar there is a descending trail that crosses through several villages and into a beautiful pine forrest and leads to Phunki Thanga. Then there is a steep climb Thyangboche. Walking time this day is around 6-hours. Day 5: You’ll start your day with a short steep muddy decent to Dingboche, and travel through a forest full of birches, conifers and Rhododendron trees. Then walk past several villages until you reach Pheriche. Walking time this day is about 6-hours. Day 6: A day of rest and relaxation with a day trip to Chhukung. Day 7: The trail you’ll follow easy trails, and then start a steeper ascent for about 2-hours before switching to easy trails again, leading into Lobuche. Walking time this day is about 6-hours. Day 8: The trail out of Lobuche is flat, with several small ascents and descents taking you to Gorak Shep. This walk will take around 4-hours. Day 9: Follow a trail that leads to climbing up Kalapatter (5,545m.) It is one of the most popular places known for its breathtaking mountain views. From here you will be able to see Mt. Everest (8,848m,) Ama Dablam (6,856m,) Themserku (6,608m,) Nuptse (7,879m), and Lotse (8,383m.) Walking time takes about 4-hours to go up and come back down. Day 10: Leaving Pheriche you’ll trek along reaching Thyangboche. Walking time is about 5-hours. Day 11: You will walk about 5-hours to go back to the Namche Bazzar. Day 12: You will follow the trails down the hills via the Dudhkoshi River, walking about 6-hours this day. Day 13: This is the final day of your journey, and you will fly back to Katmandu, where you will be able to stay in the hotel once again, and enjoy a final fare-well dinner.
